Learning to Feel at Home in My Body

Small white plush toy wearing a green beret cap being touched by a finger on white surface.

For years, I struggled with negative stories about my body—shaped both by the culture I grew up in and the wider world around me. The quiet but meaningful toll this took on my heart was hard to notice at first, but over time it slowly began to pull me under.

Thankfully, my story doesn’t end there. I’m incredibly grateful to have met many caring, patient, and occasionally feisty friends along the way. They helped me see how broken those stories about my body really were, and showed me that there were other, healthier ways to exist. The conversation between the characters in this week’s episode includes some of the encouragement my friends have shared with me over the years, along with the hopes I hold for myself as I continue learning how to live a more embodied life. I still have a long way to go in my healing journey, but if you find yourself in a similar place, I hope this episode can be a small light along your path as well.

As part of the everyday peaches project, I’ve been experimenting on a digital gallery called At Home — a series of indoor body portraits exploring what it means for me to feel comfortable in my own body. If you’re curious to see that side of this work, you can view the full gallery below. As always, no pressure at all 🫶🏻
